About Us
Welcome to the Knox County Ohio Cycling website. My name is Katie and I have been the driving force to design a site specific for trail enthusiasts while offering exclusive incentives for cyclists who visit our county. I retired from the Knox County Park District in 2023. With my years of service to Knox County, I know firsthand the value and importance our trails and parks provide to our local residents as well as visitors.

The Knox County Commissioners and Knox County Park District as well as local residents (through the continued passage of Park District levies) realized how valuable an old railway could become and hence the dream began in the early 1990's. During the summer of 2022, the final section of the Knox County trails was paved bringing full completion to a beautiful corridor on the Ohio to Erie Trail. Many cyclists comment that this stretch of the trail is the most picturesque of the entire 326 miles traveled. How exciting is that to hear as Knox Countians!

Needless to say, I have made many connections along my 31 years of employment with the county and I felt a need to stay close to many of those. After retirement, I opened a small shop in my hometown of Centerburg (the geographical center of Ohio and two blocks from the midway point of the Heart of Ohio Trail) and decided to embark on a business tied to the connections I have made in my lifetime. These connections have allowed me to bring parks and trails, cycling and geocaching and also agriculture to my business, all of which my career paths have followed.
I enjoy the adventure of geocaching as I put together two trails while employed with the Knox County Park District, these trail still exist and continue to amaze me of the amount of people and distance they travel to do this activity. My motto is "build it and they will come" and so it begins with the cycling audience. I have developed this website to give the cyclists incentives to stop and visit local businesses along their trek on our trails. Our businesses want to get to know you and understand what it takes to be a "trail town". The businesses mentioned on our website encourage you to ride off the trail and take advantage of the mobile coupons provided as well as our "Ride for Rewards" program. My business as well as (6) others mentioned welcome you into Knox County and invite you to come into our trail towns and enjoy an ice-cream, cold bottled water or a huge soft pretzel just to name a few! Sound good?

With the closing of my "brick and mortar" shop, I miss the interaction I had with the cyclists and customers, but I knew I needed to care for my mother and her health. I am pleased to say, my mother is recovering well and I am back with my creative cap on ready to see our small towns prosper.

I am sure this website will grow especially with the addition of our online store and our bike lending program. You can follow my business on Instagram and Facebook. See you on the trail!
